Create the things you want for yourself… Mia read a book about imagining futures in early summer 2024 and kept on thinking (and talking about) how that book would make a fantastic book club book - what if each time was for a different future scenario?!

Well, this is it!

This small group is gathering to talk through some futurist scenarios that Jane McGonigal, future forecaster and game designer, discussed in her book Imaginable: How to See the Future Coming and Feel Ready for Anything, Even Things that Seem Impossible Today*.

*You don’t need to have access to the book - the facilitator/host Mia Hirchberg will share the scenario before each gathering so you can have time to think about it in advance. The details and question prompts for each scenario will also be shared during each gathering.

This gathering will be a courageous place for deep conversations about what we personally think of the future – our future. It’s a place to discuss how we can start and/or continue thinking through what we want our personal, communal, and societal futures to be like. It’s a place to brainstorm ideas, imagine possibilities, and contemplate practicalities. And, it’s a place to consider what we as individuals or communities might want to start doing now in the present.

We will gather for six 90-minutes sessions on the first Thursday of the month from 7pm (and the second Thursday in January). The first five gatherings will be held online using the same Google Meet link, and our sixth and last session will be in person at Beth Tzedec.

Online, closed captions will be enabled. Other built-in and requested features for accessibility will be shared before and during the first session.
