Tikkun Leyl Shavuot: Olam Hesed Yibaneh

The evening of Shavuot is traditionally spent learning until late into the night. In order for us to learn together as a community, we will be holding our group learning in advance of the beginning of the holiday.

In keeping with public health restrictions and recommendations, this year's Tikkun Leyl Shavuot celebrations will be offered virtually, with learning sessions offered via Zoom and services streamed to our website.

Evening Schedule

6:30pm—Keynote Address from David Zarnett: Helping Strangers: Why Do We Help People We Don't Know?

7:20pm—Breakout Learning Groups. Choose from one of these two engaging sessions:

  • H̱esed In Texts with Rabbi Fryer Bodzin and Yacov Fruchter
  • Mitzveh v. Mitzvah (Good Deed v. Commandment) What Motivates H̱esed? with Rabbi Wernick
8:15pm—Minẖah and Festival Ma'ariv Service, followed by Standing in Sinai: Personal and Communal Revelation with Aviva Chernick

We will send a Zoom link to this email address before the program begins.

Note that we will be recording the Zoom learning sessions for broadcast on Beth Tzedec All Access. While the recording will be focused on the speaker, participants may find themselves recorded if Zoom detects that they are speaking.

If you would like to avoid having your image recorded and broadcast later, please keep your camera off during the program.
